Training and transfer effectiveness

Training effectiveness and successful transfer means the following:

Seminarsituationa) Participants acquire knowledge and skills
b) become able to apply such skills and knowledge  in daily work

The success of this endeavour depends on various factors:

1) Traits of participant (e.g., personality and motivation)
2) Training concept (e.g., design and content)
3) Setting (e.g., work context, working atmosphere)

Research in this area at the LMU Center for Leadership and People Management employs both theoretical as well as empirical approaches to answer the following questions:

  • How do trainings have to be conceptualized in order to guarantee transfer success?
  • Which factors influence transfer success on an individual and organizational level?
  • How can social psychology theory help to better understand and predict training effectiveness and transfer success?

You can find publications of the members of the CLPM concerning the topic of "training and transfer effectiveness" here.
